Following an inquiry from GTA Conservative MP Colin Carrie, the CA team were able to provide the MP, along with policy advisors from both the Conservative Leader’s and Health Critic’s offices, with a virtual briefing on the Self-Care Framework and its importance to modernizing the regulatory regime for cosmetics and personal care products under the Food & Drugs Act. This was followed by a further briefing on the Smart Label program from Smart Label Canada CEO Jim Flannery.
MP Carrie, who has long demonstrated a keen interest in our industry and our issues, is considering how best to support improvements in the ability of sight impaired persons to access product information. As such, he was impressed with the work and possibilities of initiatives such as Smart Label and its ability to be read by quickly improving consumer devices.
